This was a project which asked to choose 1 of 3 typefaces and create a type specimen for Colophon Foundry. The font choices were Space Mono (rather futuristic), Lydia (calligraphic) Archive (traditional). I decided to choose Space Mono as I wanted to see what I could do with such a futuristic font.
I ended up creating an app which allows users a platform which they can trial a font for 30 days, giving them full access to review each glyph individually as well as observing how kerning, tracking, weight and size of the font affects the typeface. The user would also be able to see how the typeface works in various different font sizes. Furthermore if chosen, they can choose to apply the font across their applications, essentially ‘living with the font’. This gives the designers a vital insight as to whether they really enjoy the font. I ended up creating the app within Marvel to showcase the various screens that were created.
My project was selected as a runner up for its concept and bravery.
