This brief asked to redesign the facade of the university relating to an aspect within the university. I decided to choose the “connectivity” to truly demonstrate how the students work together within the university.

I began to create lines and shapes based on my interpretation of what I felt resembled connectivity, taking focus on this idea how lines connect and meet at a certain point.

I then also looked into structure and how 3 lines intersected creates the foundation of a strong shape. It was rather interesting how this linked with the atmosphere of the university because although we are all different at the university, together we are stronger and together we are able to achieve more than we ever could.

I created models utilising triangular paper. match sticks and foam board to begin interacting with my facade but at a much smaller scale. Creating physical examples allowed me to witness how sections were working and others not as well. By using the matchsticks stuck on the paper and positioned within the foam board, behind the facade I was able to manipulate the design and see what I could essentially create.

I then looked into various tutorials online and discovered a way in which I could replicate my idea and control the Z axis through Blender software. I placed it through Photoshop and simulated how the buildings facade would essentially look like at different perspectives.
