This piece was created after thorough research of Herb Lubalin's work and evolving a new modular typeface that is showcase of his work. This project initially asked to create a typeface concentrating on the process and creation of each letter rather than the presentation of the alphabet. When researching Herb Lubalin's work it was clear to see that there was a lot of experimentation happening in each of his pieces and there was little modularity in his pieces; this was the challenge!

I decided to create a modular grid with various points around, then would begin to create the font based on the position of the dots. The first iteration I had quite a few dots however because of the increase in possible ways to recreate a letter, I decided to reduce the points and therefore allow the letters to feel connected and united. After each iteration I observed each letter form to see if there was any modification that can be done to either reduce the dots or increase the similarities between the letters.
